Douglas expressed hope for a possible return, noting that guitarist Joe Perry and bassist Tom Hamilton are eager to keep playing. However, any comeback would hinge on Tyler's ability to sing, as Douglas emphasized that there is no Aerosmith without him. Autographed items are being sold for hundreds of dollars on eBay, with some listings attributed to Coast To Coast Collectibles. The practice of autograph flipping remains a contentious issue for artists like Moreno, as they do not profit from the resale of signed items.

RUSH: Moving Pages
Late Rush drummer Neil Peart wrote 12 books and the band's singer Geddy Lee three, so we asked guitarist Alex Lifeson if he will follow suit. "My wife says you should write a book, or maybe a pamphlet, about some of your road experiences. Of course, like when we have dinners and stuff, invariably I tell a couple of stories and they're always fun and funny. If I wrote a short book of these sort of stories I think that would be really a fun thing. I don't need to write a story on my life, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Geddy did an amazing job on My Effin' Life. If I did something, I think it would be more of my personality -- joking around and laughing. Who knows? Maybe. Maybe if I stopped being quite so lazy."
But Alex has been anything but lazy, having just released a second album, Stygian Wavz, with his side project Envy of None. Geddy will publish his third book, 72 Stories: From the Baseball Collection of Geddy Lee, on June 10th.
CLAPTON & SANTANA: Another Collaboration in Their Future?
Carlos Santana had Eric Clapton join him on one song, "The Calling," on his 1999 album,
Supernatural, and he's often hinted at wanting to do more, including in a new interview with American Songwriter. “Eric and I, we were talking about doing an album together, something more like [The] Good, [the] Bad and the Ugly kind of thing,” a reference to the 1966 Spaghetti Western film with a score by Italian composer Ennio Morricone. “I just heard that my brother Eric Clapton is celebrating 80 years, and I’m right behind him,” added Carlos. “And I’m very grateful that Eric and I, we’re still relevant. You know, we can still show up and people show up, and we’re able to uplift people. … We just play, and then they get up off their seats, and it’s kind of like a hallelujah revival, Holy Spirit kind of thing...“That’s what music’s supposed to do, elevate you out of your existence and to a place where you also feel your own divinity and your own light. That’s real music.”
The 77-year-old Santana just released a new collaborative album, Sentient, and he just recorded a song with Grupo Frontera, a Texas-based band that plays regional Mexican music. It was his first session since breaking a finger on his left hand from a fall at home earlier this year. “I was a little nervous because, you know, it was quite an accident,” said Carlos. “For a microsecond, I was scared [about] if I was ever going to be able to play again, ’cause I really did break my … baby finger, and the one next to it. And those are the expression fingers, you know. But to my delight, I had no problem playing … I was able to dig in deep into the music.”
The song will be out in late May. Until then, Carlos will be on the road with his first show set for next Wednesday, April 16th, in Highland, California.
And in other Santana news, a visualizer video has been released for "Coherence,” a collaboration with his wife and drummer Cindy Blackman Santana. It's one of three previously unreleased tracks off the new album Sentient.
SCORPIONS: Will They Ever Rock You Like a Bio-Pic?
Last June, the Scorpions announced that they would be the subject of a bio-pic titled Wind of Change. Since then, it's been slow going, but the band's singer Klaus Meine says it's moving forward, despite being very vague about details in an interview with Brazil's Rolling Stone.
"[Director Alex Ranarivelo], who's working on this project for quite a while ... is in this with all his heart and passion for rock music and for his love for the Scorpions and for our music and for our work of life. And so he wants to make ... a bio-pic about the band and tell the story of the band. And it's quite in the setting up the whole thing. And we hope that they start shooting soon, but we don't know exactly when it is. And hopefully they get it done throughout the next couple months so it will work out with the 60th anniversary of the band. It will be wonderful."
So, it doesn't sound as though any movement has been made over the last two months when Meine said, "We hope later this year the bio-pic will be out all over the world. They start filming in a few months. Right now [they are] working on the script and working on the actors, to find the right characters who play the band. It's not so easy to find five Brad Pitts." Other bio-pics currently in the works include those on Heart, Bruce Springsteen, The Beatles, and
Marianne Faithfull.
WEEZER: Bassist's Wife Shot by Cops
The wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, Jillan Lauren, was shot by Los Angeles police Tuesday while they were pursuing three hit-and-run suspects. LAPD officers claim they were assisting the California Highway Patrol in finding three suspects following a hit-and-run in the Eagle Rock neighborhood. Shortly into their search they were checking behind a residence for one of the suspects when they spotted Lauren outside a home with a handgun. Police claim they commanded her to drop the gun multiple times but claim that she refused and pointed it at them, and officers shot her. TMZ reports that Lauren ran back into her home, and then 30 minutes later Lauren and her babysitter emerged from the house with their hands up and surrendered to cops. LAFD paramedics took her to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. TMZ reports that she was absentee booked for attempted murder. But KTLA reports that Lauren and the babysitter were released from police custody on Tuesday, so it's not clear if the D.A. will go ahead with the charges. Scott Shriner and Weezer are scheduled to perform at Coachella on Saturday.

ELTON JOHN: A Look Back
With Elton John having just released Who Believes in Angels?, a collaborative album with
Brandi Carlile, Spin.com -- perhaps in an attempt to teach Brandi's young fans all about him -- has ranked his 42 studio albums. No surprise that 1973's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road tops the list, which is described as having "set himself apart from the mellower likes of Carole King and
James Taylor and became a bona fide rock star." As a matter of fact, nine of the 12 albums he released in the '70s made the Top 10.
1.Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
2.Madman Across the Water
3.Tumbleweed Connection
4.Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy
5.Honky Chateau
6.Caribou
7.Don't Shoot Me I'm Only the Piano Player
8.Elton John
9.The Diving Board (2013)
10.Blue Moves
And rounding out the list at 42 is his 12th and final album from the '70s, 1979's Victim of Love. By the way, Who Believes in Angels? landed at 15. Elton says his next album will also be another collaborative effort, a collection of pop songs with the likes of Chappell Roan and
Charli XCX.
"Nash, Stills, Crosby" Album Cover Explained
We now know why a glaring mistake on the album cover for the 1969 Crosby, Stills and Nash was never changed. Graham Nash said recently on The Rockonteurs [[ ROCK-on-teurs ]] podcast they were "halfway through" recording the album when they realized they didn't have an album cover. The trio took a walk with a photographer Nash called "a dear friend" and they decided to have their picture taken while sitting on a couch on a front porch on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles. It wasn't until the next day they realized they were sitting in order of "Nash, Stills and Crosby" instead of Crosby, Stills and Nash, the name Nash says they chose "because that's how it comes off the tongue." They went back to the same house the next day, only to discover that it had been bulldozed. Nash said they had no choice but to leave it as is.
CSN: Did They Really Need Y?
It's no secret that Neil Young joining Crosby, Stills and Nash was the idea of Atlantic Records co-founder Ahmet Ertegun. And while Graham Nash wouldn't agree until he met Young, he says the former member of Buffalo Springfield with Stephen Stills didn't make much of a difference when it came to the foursome's first and biggest album, 1970’s Deja Vu. Appearing
on The Rockonteurs podcast, Nash said, "Deja Vu album should have been the second Crosby, Stills and Nash record. We already had ‘Almost Cut My Hair’, ‘Teach Your Children’, ‘Our House’, ‘4 + 20’, and ‘Carry On.’ “We only got two songs from Neil -- 'Helpless' and 'Country Girl' -- and he never played one note or sang a note on ‘Teach Your Children’ or ‘Our House.’ So in a way, the best thing that ever happened to CSN was Neil, and the worst thing that ever happened to CSN was Neil.” While Nash adds that he has "great respect for Neil," he says he "does things occasionally that really piss me off," including traveling alone. “He never traveled in the buses like me and David [Crosby] and Stephen on that entire 1974 tour. He never joined. He never traveled with us.”
CSNY's last show was a benefit for Young's Bridge School on October 27th, 2013. In all they released three studio albums and four live albums. Young and Stills will come together again on April 26th at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles for the Autism Speaks Light Up the Blues 7 concert.
And in Young news, Neil and his wife, actress Daryl Hannah, took part in the Hands Off! National Day of Action rally last Saturday in Thousand Oaks, California. He says, “It was a beautiful thing to be surrounded by others who are feeling much the same things as we are these days…” And Young will do a solo benefit show on April 23rd at Lakefield College School’s Northcote campus in Lakefield, Ontario, Canada to raise money for the restoration of the school’s 1878 farmhouse and adjacent cabins.
ELTON, STEVE MILLER & CHICAGO: Library of Congress Honorees
Albums by Elton John, Steve Miller and Chicago have been added to the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress. Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden has named 25 recordings as audio treasures worthy of preservation for all time based on their cultural, historical or aesthetic importance in the nation’s recorded sound heritage, and these include Elton John's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Steve Miller's Fly Like an Eagle, and Chicago's debut, 1969's Chicago Transit Authority.
Elton, who, along with his lyricist Bernie Taupin, were last year's winners of the Library’s
Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, says, “Nobody really knows what a hit record is. I’m not a formula writer. I didn’t think ‘Bennie and the Jets’ was a hit. I didn’t think ‘Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me’ was a hit. And that’s what makes writing so special. You do not know what you’re coming up with and how special it might become.”
And two of Chicago's founding members -- James Pankow and Lee Loughnane -- reacted to this honor with Pankow saying, "This career has been remarkable, a phenomenon that we never expected. This is our 58th year touring, and it’s quite apparent that this music will far outlive us as people. This music has been validated by the fans, by the listeners who continue to come to experience this music with great anticipation. This music seems to be timeless. This music seems to be multi-generational. And that is an amazing validation of the timelessness of the music. But to be acknowledged by the Recording Registry is the ultimate validation because it’s now in the record, and it is truly historical.” And Loughnane adds, “It’s an incredible honor to be included in the registry. It’s something that we never thought would happen. We were hoping when we initially wrote the songs that anyone else besides us would like them. So to have it go this long is phenomenal for us and to be included in the registry is over the top.”
More than 2,600 nominations were made by the public this year for recordings to consider for the registry with Chicago Transit Authority topping the list.
This year's recordings selected for the Registry bring the total number of titles to 675, representing a small portion of the national library’s vast recorded sound collection of nearly four-million items. Some of this year's other honorees, in alphabetical order, are:
·“Sweet Georgia Brown” – Brother Bones & His Shadows (1949) (single)
·“Happy Trails” – Roy Rogers & Dale Evans (1952) (single)
·Radio Broadcast of Game 7 of the 1960 World Series (Yankees vs. Pirates) – Chuck Thompson
·Hello Dummy!– Don Rickles (1968) (album)
·Bitches Brew – Miles Davis (1970) (album)
·The Kӧln Concert – Keith Jarrett (1975) (album)
·Tracy Chapman (1988) (album)
·Microsoft Windows Reboot Chime – Brian Eno (1995)
Sex Pistols Tribute Blondie Drummer Clem Burke
The Sex Pistols have a nasty and chaotic a reputation that transcends music, with several generations of fans and non-fans alike seeing them as "snotty punks," but even snotty punks have a heart. With the passing of Blondie drummer Clem Burke earlier this week, the legendary band honored the musician from the stage. In Sydney, Australia Tuesday, lead singer Frank Carter said before the band played a note, "Very quickly I just want to take a moment to dedicate this show to an amazing man, and a friend of the lads, Clem Burke. An incredible drummer, who sadly passed away yesterday. So, tonight is for Clem and it’s for friendship." Band member Glen Matlock posted a picture of the two on Instagram, writing "Such a sad news couple of days. What a drummer, what a friend, what a guy. Will miss you big time mate."
