UPDATE: Five On Board Jet That Crashed On I-75 near Naples; Three Escaped

The FAA has confirmed there were five people on board the Bombardier Challenger 600 jet that crashed on Highway I-75 near Naples earlier this afternoon.

Naples Airport officials say three people were able to get out of the plane.

Update: A tail number search of the plane in FlightAware shows it was operating as "Hop-a-Jet." The Canadair Challenger (twin-jet) left Ohio State University shortly after 1:00 p.m. bound for Naples. The plane was then expected to leave Naples for Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport.

TAMPA, Fla - A small jet reported landed on I-75 after it reportedly collided with several vehicles.

The Florida Highway Patrol has closed the southbound lanes of I-75 near mile marker 105 at Pine Ridge Road, in Collier County near Naples.

It’s unclear exactly how many people were onboard the plane or the conditions of the pilot, passengers, and motorists. Drivers are being asked to use alternate routes.
