South Florida's law enforcement community is in mourning.
Hialeah Officer Anthony Caabeiro lost his life yesterday after being involved in a violent accident in Homestead.
"What I've heard so far is that he was off-duty and he was on his personal motorcycle, and it sounds like a car turned in front of him," says South Florida PBA President Steadman Stahl.
He promises the law enforcement family will come together for the 22-year-old's family.
"Our hearts go out to the Hialeah Police Department on the loss of a tremendous officer, and we will all hurt as one."
The driver of the car stayed on the scene.
Homestead police is investigating the crash, and so far, no arrests have been made or citations given.
Stahl has a message as they mourn the loss of the young officer: "All we can do is just implore the public to be aware of your surroundings, and pay attention, and there's motorcycles they're out there everywhere to look out for them."
