After teasing fans earlier this week, Miley Cyrus finally officially announced when fans can hear her new music.
On social media, Cyrus revealed that she has a new single called "Midnight Sky" and it comes out on August 14th. The star also shared the song's official cover art, which features Miley looking like a rock star while singing into a purple microphone and rocking some red lipstick and purple eyeshadow.
Along with the cover art, she wrote, "I know it feels like you've been waiting forever and ever .... but no more..... She is finally here. My new single MIDNIGHT SKY. AUGUST 14th."
Earlier this week, Miley teased fans that new music was on the way "for real this time" with a cryptic Tweet. On Twitter, Miley shared a clip of her music video for "Start All Over" from her 2007 Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus album, and wrote along with it, "Meet Miley Cyrus..... again" while also using the hashtags "#SheIsComing" and "#ButForRealThisTime."
Fans then got a first listen to "Midnight Sky" when the singer shared a preview of the track on Instagram's new platform Reels, while also sharing several other clips featuring the song on her Instagram stories.
"Midnight Sky" appears to be a taste of Miley's forthcoming new album. She Is Miley Cyrus was supposed to be released last year, but the project was pushed back after Miley underwent vocal cord surgery following a hospitalization for tonsillitis. While in recovery, Cyrus took a break from recording and performing.
An official release date and/or details on Miley's new album have yet to be officially announced, but it looks like it could be coming soon. Back in March, she said during an Australian radio interview, "I am getting super close, I am feeling the urgency. I am definitely actively on it and ready to go," adding, "I've got some music that is sounding super rock and roll and I'm just excited to share, but not too much longer."
