Listen to Evanescence on iHeartRadio

Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee is apparently making some headway in her fight with Wind Up Records.

The rock singer sued the label earlier this year for $1.5 million dollars in unpaid royalties, and accused them of trying to sabotage the band with under-qualified promoters.

For the most part Lee has stayed quiet on the topic, but this week she offered a bit of an update with a pair of tweets.  She told followers that for the first time in 13 years, she is a "free and independent artist."  She said she's wanted this for a while now, and is happy to be able to do anything she wants -- Evanescence included.

It remains unclear, however, if this new development had or will have any effect on Lee's lawsuit.
