Man stabs Lyft driver following meeting with probation officer

Escambia County, FL - A Lyft driver was stabbed in the back of the head by a passenger he picked up from a probation office.

According to the Escambia County Sheriff's Office, 27-year-old River Austin Sewell, was charged with aggravated battery, destroying evidence, and burglary after the incident.

The driver reported that after picking up Sewell, who was on his way to meet his probation officer, and driving him to a destination, he felt a blow to the back of his neck and began to bleed.

Sewell then fled the vehicle on foot.

He was later found hiding behind a portable toilet on a neighboring business's property by the owner, who held him at gunpoint until the police arrived.

The driver was able to drive himself to receive medical attention and has since recovered.

Sewell was held on a $25,000 bond.
