Time To Spend Those Toys "R" Us Gift Cards

Got a Toys "R" Us gift card burning a hole in your pocket? Better get spending.

The debt-laden toy retailer Toys "R" Us announced this week that while they would shutter operations at their 740 stores, the company would continue honoring gift cards following its liquidation announcement for the next 30 days.

Toys "R" Us said they would sell or close all its U.S. stores, including its Babies "R" Us locations after a poor showing during the holiday shopping season. The company filed for bankruptcy protections back in September, but execs were unable to turn the company around.

During a speech to Toys "R" Us employees, CEO David Brandon said they would maintain the Babies "R" Us gift registries and the web stores will also remain active through the same period in  hopes that someone might buy them.

"I am devastated that we have reached this point," Brandon said Wednesday.

Rewards dollars and Endless Earnings programs will also be honored through mid-April.
